The ride itself is a treat, with green hills unfolding around them like a real-life postcard. But those picture-perfect landscapes come with a bit of a challenge— some steep inclines that test their scooter occasionally.

The Steep Roads Up To The Ambuluwawa Tower

Arriving at the gates of the Ambuluwawa Tower, they grab their tickets, ready to climb the Ambuluwawa Tower.

Did you know that if you have any additional bags or things that will make your Ambuluwawa journey cumbersome, you can leave them at the security’s office with protection? Make sure to visit the tower without much on you as it would help you to navigate through the narrow staircase with ease.

They enter the gate to reach the Ambuluwawa tower on their scooter. They leave their scooter in the bike park and proceed to walk up to the Ambuluwawa tower.

There are about 2km from the Ambuluwawa gates to the tower and usually travellers hire tuktuks from the gate to go to the Ambuluwawa tower. if you come in your own vehicle, you can reach the tower in it.

Tower in Sight: Time for the Climb!

As they reach the entrance, Balnur and Denise can’t help but be impressed. There it stands, the magnificent Ambuluwawa Tower! It’s undeniably impressive, with an intimidating touch. But hey, that’s part of the adventure, right?

The climb itself is a test of perseverance. It starts with a manageable internal staircase, offering a welcome break from the Sri Lankan heat. But soon, the transition to the external portion begins.

Narrow pathways and steeper sections demand a bit of caution, but with every step, the breathtaking views below become more and more spectacular. Lush greenery stretches for miles, dotted with villages and winding rivers.

Reaching the Top: A Panoramic Reward

Finally, Balnur and Denise reach the summit of the tower! The view, as Balnur describes it, is absolutely stunning. Rolling hills stretch out for miles in every direction, creating a panorama that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. You can even spot the glimmer of Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka, in the distance.

But the beauty doesn’t stop there. As you take in the view, remember that you’re standing on a site steeped in history. The Ambuluwawa complex is a unique symbol of Sri Lanka’s religious harmony. Look around and you’ll see a Buddhist temple, a mosque, a Hindu kovil, and a Christian church, all existing peacefully side-by-side. It’s a powerful reminder of Sri Lanka’s rich cultural tapestry.

A Careful Journey Down with Lasting Memories

The trip down isn’t for the faint of heart, but Balnur and Denise manage it with ease. Remember those narrow pathways and steeper sections? They require a bit of extra caution when navigating with fellow climbers.

But don’t forget to capture some photos on your way down – the views from different angles are just as stunning!

After their adventure, Balnur and Denise explore the local restaurants, enjoying fresh juices and experiencing the flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine.
